The New Muslim

All I can do is shake my head. We keep finding that the new shahaadahs are falling to the wayside. They are turning back on their heals. Most of this when you ask them, is because of lack of information and knowledge due to no one taking them by the hand and explaining things to them.

That which hurts my heart even more is the fact that many of them turn away and their excuse is the actions and treatments of the Muslims in the Masjid. They don’t tend to like that Pious Ahmad and A’isha roll that the people put on. They don’t like the way they are made to feel Muslim enough. Subhanna Allah.

Both of these situations fall on us, both as communities and individuals. How many of our Masaajid or Islamic Centers offer a New Shahaadah Program where they can come and learn the basics? And two, we can shake our head at the treatment they find, and we can even blame them for not being more serious, but how serious were you when you started coming around? It was probably someone that you met that you loved they way they were and liked being around them and they nurtured you and helped you grow. How many people can you say that you have done this with?

So I reiterate – If our Masaajid and Islamic Centers don’t currently have a New Shahaadah program then it is time to push hard for one. They are too important to go without. And if you and when you see a new face, take it as your responsibility to make them feel welcome and show them the ropes and what Islam is really about. Because if we always sit back and wait for the others to do it, the job may never get done.

Being Patient…

Some clarity and explanation 

From a persons natural disposition is that when they are in a situation of ease, blessing and good health, they tend to busy themselves with these things. This many times causes them to be negligent of  numerous types of obedience that they should be carrying out and obligations to their Lord. This sometimes has a tendency to go deep into their desires and those things that they want of this world. They they find themselves from among those that are destroyed.

Because of this, we see that it is from Allah’s wisdom that He dries us with things that will bring us back to being aware after our situation of negligence and heedlessness. By doing this He saves the individual from destruction.

{And certainly, We shall test you with something of fear}

This is as we previously stated from the enemy, so that you may prepare youselfves for them.

For example by restricting rain, or water from the rivers so that you strive hard to obtain your provisions.

Get your days and nights straight….

As salaamu alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakaatuh,

This is just a small reminder to all of you that in the Islamic calendar, the day comes after the night. This is in contradiction to that which many of us plan our lives around. We wanted to remind you of this because of the importance of this time of year. We are coming up to the last ten days of Ramadan. Many of you in trying to catch the Night of Decree calculate your days and nights incorrectly. This inadvertently most likely WILL effect you chances in catching the Night of Decree.

So take this example that we are giving you and calculate the rest of the days and nights around it. Remember that when we reach the 20th day, that night (after Magrib enters) starts the 21st night. Do you see where we are going with this? We want you to pay attention. Most of us most years match the day with the night that follow it. Therefore, we on the 21st day go to the masjid and try to catch the night of decree but the night when we think about it, is the night of the 22nd. We know from that which was left from us from the guidence, that the Night is found on one of the odd nights of  the last ten days.

With the way that many of the people have grown use to calculating, they will not catch the Night on these even nights. So this is just to remind you that you should make sure that the nights that you are looking for, are actually odd nights. If you just remember that the day is not followed by its night then you have a good chance of atleast being able to tell the difference between the odd and even nights.

May Allah allow us to be of those that catch the Night of Decree in the one of the odd nights of the last ten days. Allahuma ameen.

A Ramadan Workshop Update

Being thankful for Allah’s Blessings

When we look around, we find ourselves living in big homes, in good health, in a state of safety and with all kinds of excess that surrounds us. This is just to name a few of the things that Allah has blessed the majority of us with. We still most times don’t recognize Allah’s favor upon us. We sit back and complain because we want more. When is the last time that you sat and thought about all that Allah has blessed you with? No matter how much you tried you will never be able to count all of the blessings that Allah has bestowed upon you. Look at the statement of Allah when He said;

The Free Ramadan Workshop

As salaamu alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakaatuh,

Brothers and Sisters, we are pleased to announce that The Workshop will begin on Sunday July 29,2012. We will be taking registrations up until about two hours before the workshop begins. This will give us ample time to make sure that everyone receives their invitations and links in a timely fashion. 

For those of you that have not yet registered, go to the site and register now, as there are a little less then two days left to register. Any friends or family that you think would like to register, then they are more then welcome to register for free as well. Just direct them to the site and they enter their information and they will receive their information before each of the lectures.
